​​How does the Damage Excess work?

The 'Excess' is the amount that you must pay toward each event of damage. 

For example, the vehicle is damaged and the cost of repairs is $3,000.  If you chose Gold Liability reduction your 'excess' is $500, therefore you would only pay $500 and our insurer will pay the balance. However if you chose Standard damage cover, your excess is $5,000 and since the cost of repairs is less than your excess, you would pay $3,000.

Are there times when you don't have to pay the 'Excess'?

Yes.  The first is if the damaged item is covered under by Adventuremore benefits (Gold and Silver), such as a tire or windscreen, up to the limits shown in the table above.  The second are circumstances where a third party, such as another vehicle has caused the damage and we are provided with valid claim details from their insurer.

Damage Cover Exclusions (things that are NOT covered by insurance)

Even if you have Silver or Gold cover, our damage cover DOES NOT cover you for the following damage and you must always pay for the full cost of repairs: 

• Damage caused by You deliberately or as a result of lack of care or negligence;

• Overhead  or Underbody Damage;

• Damage caused by total or partial immersion in water;

• Damage to the wheels or tires (less Silver or Gold Adventure More benefits);

• Damage caused as a result of the vehicle tipping or rolling over whist on any Beach;

• Damage to any of the Camping Equipment;

• Damage as a result of a major Breach of the Rental Agreement;

Adventure More Benefits - Terms & Conditions

• To be eligible for Included Benefits you must selected Adventure More Cover prior to the commencement of your rental. 

• Included benefits are payable only in relation to accidental damage. 

• Included Benefits are payable only for those items listed.  We do not pay for any associated or incidental costs such as, but not limited to, travel to or from a repairer or accommodation.

• In some instances you may be required to pay for the cost of repair and seek reimbursement from us.  Reimbursement for Included Benefits will only be made where We are satisfied that the claim is legitimate and a valid, 3rd party tax invoice as well as photographs of the scene have been supplied by you. 

• We do not reimburse unused days, including amounts paid for Adventure More Cover, if your rental finishes early.

• Adventure More Included Benefits are not payable and your liability is not reduced in circumstances where damage has been caused by a breach of the Rental Agreement.
